Canyon Lovers demonstrate their dedication to preserving the integrity of the canyon
Fenced off areas, markers and Howard Berman's Van Nuys office have indicated that the sad truth is that all of the upper peaks of the canyon are privately owned.
Saturday, Feb 19, 2011,  a dedicated few * gathered to plan actions for saving this sanctuary. Another meeting is planned Saturday, the 26th. In the meantime, we are seeking legal counsel and researching public records to find out who exactly owns all of this land whose preservation is integral to the integrity of the Canyon.  We live in a time and place in which we absolutely owe it to ourselves to keep this land from being developed.  Millions inhabit this city and have no other refuge in the proximity that Franklin Canyon offers.  It's accessibility to Valley dwellers and residents of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles is unique.  Our lawmakers need to understand that our health and welfare require development in this canyon to completely cease with laws in place to protect it ( and us) forever.

 * We are few but we represent thousands.  This coming Saturday, we need you thousands who are responding in support of what we are doing to commit to joining us for an hour or so.  News teams and photographers have shown interest in giving this event coverage and it is important that there are faces to our voices.  If you care about this canyon and are grateful for what it has given you, if you would like to keep it, please come out in support.  Sign the petition and say that you will be there.
WE NEED YOU
The preservation of this canyon depends on YOU.
